It’s that time of the year again.  Tax Time.  We here at DollarsDirect have put together three important “tax tips” that will save you money, and peace of mind (courtesy of www.savingsguide.com.au).

1)   Electronic Refund Payment – Electronically depositing your refund into your checking account, instead of having the cheque mailed, allows you to use the money right away (or collect interest!).  Most cheques can take up to three days to clear you account.  Save some time with direct deposit.

2)   Good Record Keeping – Use a separate credit card for different expenses.  Such as, one card for work related expenses, and another for groceries.  Your credit card statement can be used as a “receipt” to claim, and prove expenses.

3)   Check for Specific Deductions – Check this guide provided by the ATO.  It lists specific deductions for specific occupations.  Maybe you’re in luck!
